10. Funding. In this time of economic turmoil, funding for a start up new business can be hard to come by. My suggestion is too align yourself with the right professional that can help guide you to what funding that you qualify for and what would be most beneficial for your situation.
9. Equipment. Right now there are so many offices closing and for sale that you can get some great deals on equipment. My advice would be to lease all of your big ticket items, then search diligently for deals on all the other small stuff that you’ll need to get.
8. Perfect Market. I don’t know if there is such a thing as a perfect market, but I have sure come close to finding them. Do your do diligence when seeking the market that is right for you. Most importantly make this decision based on reason not emotion.
7. Great Location. Please thoroughly read through every page of a lease agreement before you sign anything. There are a lot of great spaces available in this tragic real estate market so keep your options open and always remember that everything is negotiable.
6. Perfect Staff. There is no such thing, but remember that the staff reflects their leadership. So if you are seeing problems in the office look in the mirror before you start pointing fingers. Be that “Good To Great” Level Five leader that you know you can be.
5. No Holiday Slow Down. This doesn’t even have to exist as long as you don’t let it overcome your thinking. Keep you foot on the gas with all aspects of marketing and office procedures and you shouldn’t see a change in volume at all.
4. No Equipment Breakdowns. A lot of the things in our offices are very mechanical and require monthly attention. You absolutely need to do monthly quality control on all your equipment to avoid those unforeseen hang ups.
3. Cheap Advertising. Folks there are many opportunities within your community for cheap or even free advertising. This takes some searching, but you need to get off your butt and look for these different outlets. The problem probably isn’t that there aren’t any in your area; the problem probably is that you haven’t looked for them.
2. Paying Patients. Friend if your patients aren’t paying than you have a problem. They are obviously not seeing the importance of the care that they are receiving nor are they respecting your time and knowledge. Get serious about being the Doctor, because the patient will only take their condition as seriously as you do.
1. NEW PATIENTS!!!!!! I don’t know how many times I hear this from doctors. The problem is usually not new patients, the problem is they can’t keep the new patients that they do get. If you don’t know how to do this than I suggest finding a professional that can show you how to have a self sustaining referral based practice. So when they do flood your office with new patients you will understand how to make them stay, pay, and refer.
MERRY CHRISTMAS DOCS!!!!!!!
